A faint fragrance drifted by. Unable to identify the scent, Baoyu repeatedly asked about it. Jingxian smiled faintly and said, "This is a fragrance that does not exist in this world. How could you possibly know? It's made from the essence of rare herbs that sprout on famous mountains and fairylands, combined with various precious tree oils. Its name is 'Qunfang Zui'." Baoyu listened and simply felt envious. When everyone took their seats, a servant brought tea. Baoyu noticed that it had a wonderful aroma and taste, completely different from ordinary teas, so he asked its name again. Jingxian said, "This tea comes from the Qian Hong Yi Ku cave on Fangchun Mountain. It's brewed with dew collected at night from immortal flowers and spiritual leaves. Its name is 'Qianhong Yiku'." Baoyu nodded and praised it.
The Precious Jade looked around the room. It had everything: a qin, cauldrons, old paintings, and new poems. There was also spittoon wool under the window, and sometimes white powder stains could be seen on the cosmetic boxes. He liked even those things. Couplets were hung on the walls, with the following inscription:
A deep and mysterious land, a heaven that cannot be helped.
Seeing this, Baoyu felt envious. He then asked about the names of the fairies. One was Chi Meng Xian Gu, one was Zhong Qing Da Shi, one was Yin Chou Jin Nv, and one was Du Hen Puti. Each had their own dharma name. A little later, a servant came and prepared the table, arranged the chairs, and set out the food and drinks. Fine wine overflowed in glass cups, and amber liquid filled amber goblets. The lavishness of the dishes was beyond words. Baoyu found the aroma and clear taste of the wine to be exceptional, so he couldn't help but ask about it again. Jing Huan said, "This wine is made by adding the flower buds of a hundred flowers and the tree sap of ten thousand trees, along with the marrow of a qilin and the koji of a phoenix. It is called 'Wan Yan Tong Bei.'" Baoyu praised it repeatedly.
