Everyone wants to live a life without hardship, if possible.

• I want to feel secure.
• I want to be loved.
• I want to become free from economic anxiety.
• I want to believe that my life has meaning.
• I don't want to be swayed by chance events.

Such desires are not special. Modern spirituality gives modern language to these universal desires. Therefore, even if we only consider the intelligence of those who believe, this phenomenon cannot be explained.

226. Rather, look at "what desires it is answering."

When looking at an ideology, it is interesting to consider both "whether it is right or wrong" and "what desires it answers."

Attraction: The desire to control the future.

Surrender: The desire to escape from the responsibility of controlling the future.

Self-affirmation: The desire to be recognized for one's value unconditionally.

Feminine ideology: The desire to shift from the giving side to the receiving side.

Natural Regression: The desire to distance oneself from complex modern society.

The idea that "things are given even if you do nothing" has the function of bringing all of these together into a single narrative. This is a story in which, while one can obtain their desired future, they are freed from the responsibility and effort required for it, unconditionally recognized as valuable, shifted from being on the giving side to the receiving side, and able to distance themselves from complex society.

227. It is strong because it contains contradictions.

Interestingly, this ideology contains internal contradictions such as the following.

• "You create your own reality." However, "you must entrust it to the universe."
• "You don't have to do anything." However, "your vibrations must be aligned."
• "It has value even if you don't succeed." However, "success is proof that your thoughts are correct."
• "Don't cling to money." However, "you want to attract abundance."
• "Criticize consumer society." However, "you desire a rich and fulfilling life."

Normally, this might seem contradictory. However, this ambiguity may actually be advantageous in order to simultaneously satisfy different psychological needs.
